Pigmentation is a commonly faced issue across the world. Most of us are still searching for an effective solution to reduce hyperpigmentation, acne marks, etc. Looks like we might have found a solution in Tranexamic acid, an ingredient that was earlier used to treat menstrual issues. An Indian brand Minimalist has recently launched an amazing product: Minimalist 3% Tranexamic Acid Serum, which has an impressive composition to help fight all skin issues related to pigmentation. I have been using this product for some time now and here is a review.

Product Description

The minimalist tranexamic acid serum is a powerful serum to effectively diminish the appearance of Melasma, PIE, PIH, and hyperpigmentation. With the power of 3% Tranexamic Acid and 1% Hydroxyphenoxy Propionic Acid which inhibits melanin transfer with great efficacy and prevents UVB damage.

Key Ingredients

Tranexamic acid: Tranexamic acid is an “antifibrinolytic” medication, which is often used to reduce heavy menstrual bleeding by breaking down blood clots. Recent studies have shown that when applied topically it can work almost like hydroquinone and reduce pigmentation. It is extremely beneficial in fighting melasma, pigmentation, acne scars, etc.

Avena sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract: It is extremely gentle on your skin and helps fight dry and inflamed skin. Those suffering from eczema also benefit from it.

Salicylic Acid: It penetrates deep into the pores and unclogs them. Removes dirt and dead skin cells revealing the glowing skin beneath. Helps to lighten dark spots or acne marks.

Mandelic acid: This acid is a form of alpha-hydroxy acid that helps fight pigmentation. It unclogs pores and helps clean the acne-prone skin thoroughly. This AHA gently exfoliates the dead skin and helps brighten the complexion.

Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract: Curcumin is an active compound found in turmeric root that has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It works well on acne-prone skin and helps reduce post-acne spots.

Hydroxyphenoxy Propionic Acid: Studies show that it has photoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects on the skin which helps prevent damages by UVB rays. Its regular application can reduce the appearance of sunspots, age spots and provide even-toned skin.

Acetyl Glucosamine: It is involved in the production of hyaluronic acid. Acetyl Glucosamine promotes hydration of the skin and helps reduce signs of aging.

Sodium Polyglutamate: Sodium Polyglutamate helps keep the skin well moisturized and wrinkle-free.

Sodium Hyaluronate: Sodium hyaluronate is excellent to fight skin dryness. It works better than hyaluronic acid and provides greater hydration to the skin keeping it firm, plump and youthful.

Packaging

The product comes in a dark-colored glass bottle with a dropper which makes it easy to use. To protect the serum from light an additional dark carton box is added. Overall, the packaging is really good.

How To Use Minimalist Tranexamic Acid Serum

It is best to use this serum at night before bed. Clean your face. Apply toner as usual. Then take a few drops of the serum and gently apply them to your face and neck. During the day, make sure to apply sunscreen before stepping out in the sun.

My Experience

I had a pimple that went away but left behind an unsightly mark on my cheek. On learning about this serum which uses 3% tranexamic acid and is specifically composed to fight pigmentation and scars, I decided to give it a try. I started using it every night before bed. After cleansing and toning my face, I would just massage few drops of this serum on my face. After using this serum for 3 weeks my face started feeling soft and the acne scar has also lightened although it’s not completely gone. Might need to continue using it for few more months before I see complete results.

minimalist serum

As of now, I feel my face is glowing ant mark is only slightly visible. My skin has become soft and plump. I use this serum before bed and every morning I apply sunscreen before stepping outside.

It glides easily on the skin and has a non-greasy texture. The serum is lightweight and slightly runny inconsistency. Does not have any strong fragrance and gets absorbed quickly.

Pros Of Minimalist Tranexamic Acid Serum

  • Reduces hyperpigmentation
  • Helps fade sunspots as well as acne scars
  • Makes the skin soft and glowing

My Opinion

This serum can be used by all skin types. Those with sensitive skin types might find it a bit strong and should do a patch test before using it on your face. Once you start using it give at least 3-4 weeks before you expect results although the brand itself says to wait for 6-8 weeks to see clear results. I would certainly recommend it for anyone suffering from acne scars, sun spots, or pigmentation.

L’oreal Paris needs no introduction. One of its recent products, Loreal Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid Serum, has been a hit from almost the day it was launched. I decided to give it a try since I had been searching for a good hyaluronic acid-based serum for a long time. The results were almost as expected from a brand of their reputation. Here is Loreal Revitalift Serum Review.

Product Description

This product has been specifically developed to deliver an advanced anti-wrinkle efficacy with a rapid absorption and non-greasy finish. A scientifically formulated blend of 2 forms of pure Hyaluronic Acid, to help retain skin’s own moisture: 0.5% Macro Hyaluronic Acid to intensively rehydrate and smooth skin surface by retaining 1000x its weight in water and 1% of Micro Hyaluronic Acid to penetrate into skin’s surface layers to help plump out wrinkles.

Key Ingredient

Hyaluronic serum: As per a study hyaluronic acid is a key molecule for skin aging. Since aging is also associated with loss of skin moisture. The key molecule involved in skin moisture is hyaluronan hyaluronic acid (HA), which helps hold water molecules. This helps retain skin’s natural moisture and keeps skin looking youthful and fresh for a long time. Loreal revitalift hyaluronic acid serum has the highest 1.5% concentration of this beauty acid which ensures radiant, soft skin within just a few weeks.

Packaging & Fragrance

It comes in a transparent white glass bottle. The overall look is premium and elegant. The dropper makes it easy to use. It has mild to no fragrance.

My Experience With Loreal Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid Serum

I used this serum first thing in the morning after washing my face. I felt that it instantly brightened up my skin right after the first application. I reapplied it before bed. I did not use any other cream other than this serum. But you should follow it up with a good cream or moisturizer as per your skin type. Within 2 weeks I felt that my pores were less visible and my skin was plump and extremely soft. I have some fine lines on my facial skin, the regular use of this serum should help me lighten them.

loreal hyaluronic acid serum

The serum gets absorbed quickly without leaving any residue. It is neither watery nor very thick in its consistency. It is best-used post cleansing or exfoliating your facial skin.  When used regularly, it helps your skin look fresh, hydrated, and supple. It helps fight the dryness that comes with aging as well as other conditions such as air-conditioners or irregular lifestyles.

Pros of loreal revitalift hyaluronic acid serum

  • It is immensely hydrating with 1.5% hyaluronic acid which makes skin plump and soft
  • Paraben-free, no alcohol, no strong fragrance
  • It has anti-aging effects
  • Good packaging makes it easy to carry along anywhere
  • Great for almost all skin types

Cons of with loreal revitalift hyaluronic acid serum

  • It may not work on deeper fine lines

My opinion about loreal revitalift hyaluronic acid serum

I don’t think it can replace any expensive skin procedure but it can certainly work well on mild skin issues. It has given me satisfactory results and helped reduce large pores and fine lines. Although my problems have not completely vanished they are definitely less noticeable. I have dry skin hence this serum is a great boon for me. Post my experience I would especially recommend it for those who are looking for a good anti-aging, hydrating serum for regular use. Also, people of almost all skin types should be able to use it without any issues.  It is neither too pricy nor too cheap which makes it a great investment. I would definitely buy it again.
